Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is for skilled workers who have Canadian work experience and want to become permanent residents. Candidates must have at least 1 year of skilled work experience in Canada, in the last 3 years before they apply.

IRCC ranks candidates in the Express Entry pool using a point-based system known as the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The highest-ranking candidates are selected from the pool and invited to apply for permanent residence. CEC candidates with only 369 points were invited by IRCC through the CEC.

CRS score distribution of candidates in the Express Entry pool as of June 21, 2021

The numbers in this table reflect the total number of people in the pool overall, a few days before an invitation round. The score distribution may change as people submit new profiles and other profiles expire.

The table numbers not in bold are a detailed breakdown of the bold number immediately above.

The July 08, 2021, draw is the smallest draw since May 20, 2021. It is to be recalled that the last CEC draw held on June 24, 2021, had a CRS of only 357 which had the second lowest CRS requirement for the CEC after the history draw held on February 13, 2021, with a cut-off score of only 75.

A continued decrease in the cut-off CRS score in each of the last 12 CEC draws since the start of this year can be noticed. The frequency of Express Entry draws usually affects the CRS cut-off score.

However, the 13th CEC draw has shown a slight increase in the cut-off score.

The July 08, 2021 draw is the 26th draw of 2021 and brings the total ITAs issued so far this year to 93,842.

Only two types of programs -specific Express Entry draws were held by IRCC, namely CEC and PNP throughout the coronavirus situation. Candidates from both categories are more likely to already be living in Canada. As per research conducted by IRCC, it was deduced that those candidates who have Canadian work and/or study experience can easily integrate quickly into the labour market. Around 90 percent of candidates are applying domestically. On the other hand, candidates who have been nominated by a Province often need work experience, study experience, or some other connection to the province.
